So I have pretty bad stress and anxiety. Sometimes, I think everyone does, especially moms. We all muddle through our mom lives and working lives. And we have all kinds of stressors that also can cause anxiety. I feel like we all just need help with this. I use essential oils for stress and anxiety, and I definitely want to share with you the best essential oils to use for anxiety.
First, I still use all the tips that I talked about in my Living with Anxiety post (read these tips here). They are things that I still do everyday, and they are really helpful at keeping my anxiety down. But with these tips, I also use my essential oils on a regular basis. Like every single day.
1. Grounding Blend
This was the first essential oil that I used because it is so good for fighting my anxiety. My friend that introduced me to essential oils, she gave this one to me first because she knew it would help my anxiety so much. My favorite way to use grounding blend is to put it in a roller ball bottle and dilute with coconut oil. Then I take that bottle with me wherever I go so that I am ready for any anxiety situation. I just roll on the back of my neck. I always have it with me at work, and I always take it when I am going somewhere with lots of people. These are the roller ball bottles that I use. You do not need the colored ones, but I just like them because they are pretty 🙂
I have a friend who puts grounding blend on her feet every morning when she wakes up so that she can start the day out calm. I have not tried this, but I am thinking it would be a great idea. To be more proactive instead of reactive to my anxiety. Just wanted to give you an update, I have since tried this and do this every morning. It works really well you guys! If you deal with anxiety, definitely think about using this on your feet every morning.
Also, just to let you guys know. I had to use grounding blend while writing this because I had written almost all of the post and went to save it. And it kicked me out of my own blog and didn’t save anything! This is why I need to use essential oils for stress and anxiety. Grrr, but I’m back writing it and it will be even better this time.
2. Restful Blend
This blend is so helpful as essential oils for anxiety. This essential oil is actually for sleep. But it is also awesome for helping with stress and anxiety. My favorite is to put it in the diffuser at night so I can sleep, helps with getting to sleep and for the anxiety. Or to diffuse it during a really anxious time. It smells so good and works so well. I also have this in a roller ball bottle in case the grounding blend isn’t cutting it for the anxiety.
Something else I do is have a roller ball bottle of grounding blend and restful blend mixed together. This is great for me when I am super anxious. What could be better than having one of these essential oils, is having these two oils combines together. It is also good to have for my boys. It is so helpful and calming when your kid is having a temper tantrum. Or, in the case of my son, having a teenage fit. Just apply to the back of your kiddo’s neck in the middle of the fit, usually the kiddo will calm down in a minute or two!
Bergamot is one of the great essential oils for stress and anxiety, and it isn’t one that you think of right away. This is a citrus oil, and it is very unique because it is calming and uplifting. What could be better for anxiety? Along with anxiety, usually comes some depression so this oil is perfect. I love to diffuse it, or I put on my feet for a little uplifting and calming. It is also in my son’t sleepy time blend that he puts on every night to help him get to sleep (he gets his anxiety from me!).
We can’t forget about lavender. This is like number one oil for soothing and calming. I use this one more for soothing the skin, than soothing my anxiety. But I know lots of people who have had good luck with it. It is in the restful blend so I guess I do use it in that. I also can use it in a pinch for me or the boys when we need soothing.
This is the first essential oil that I always give out for people that they say they are anxious. It is the most simple oil to try. And sometimes it works best.
5.Monthly Blend for Women
Now this one might sound funny for anxiety, but it is seriously amazing. Part of the reason I get anxiety is because I get crazy, unbalanced hormones going on. I use this blend every single day. I put a little bit on the inside of my ankles because this is a pulse point to the uterus. Once I keep my hormones all balanced, it is easier to combat my anxiety.
When I start to get anxious about everything, I think back. And usually I have forgotten to put on my monthly blend for a couple days. And then I apply two or three times throughout the day so I get back on track with getting my hormones balanced.
These are some of the best essential oils that I have found for helping with anxiety. I know that there are other ones that have helped people.
