As we get older, I think everyone starts to have memory problems. It is kind of a natural progression of life. We just forget things every so often. Now, if this gets really bad and becomes Alzheimer’s then definitely medication is needed. But if it is just old age mild dementia and memory problems, then some essential oils might be helpful to you.

And this is not just for you. Maybe you are having some of this dementia with a parent. Definitely keep some essential oils in mind for them also. Keep reading to see what essential oils to try.
Frankincense Essential Oil
Frankincense oil is used for so many things. I think that is why I have heard, when in doubt, use frankincense. And it is the first essential oil to think about trying for memory. There are two ways to use it. You can put two drops under your tongue in the morning and at night. But be careful because it does not taste the best, do try to get it far under the tongue so you don’t have to taste it.
The other way is to put one to two drops of frankincense on the back of your neck, twice daily. Right below the hairline. This is where your brain stem is, so will give you the most help for memory. If you notice getting any irritation from applying the frankincense twice daily, you can put in a roller ball bottle and dilute with coconut oil. I would do half of frankincense oil and half of coconut oil. Here are some roller ball bottles and coconut oil I recommend.
Melissa Essential Oil
Melissa is another oil to try if you do the frankincense for a bit (like a month or two). And you do not notice it really helping. This is when you can try melissa. Just like my post I wrote on essential oils for blood pressure, (go here if you want to read it), different oils help different people. So while frankincense might work best for your friend or your mother, maybe melissa will help you more than frankincense. It is trial and error.

You can use melissa exactly like the frankincense. So twice daily. Either the two drops under the tongue. Or the melissa oil on the brain stem on the back of the neck. And just like frankincense, if you start to get skin irritation from just the melissa oil, definitely dilute with coconut oil and put in a roller ball bottle.
Grounding Blend
Grounding blend is one of the other options of essential oils for dementia to try. This oil is great at calming along with clearing the mind, so some of that confusion can be cleared. Grounding blend can be used on the brain stem on the back of the neck just like frankincense and melissa. But grounding blend is not an oil that can be taken internally. So do not use this one under the tongue like the other two.
Turmeric Supplement
Turmeric is really beneficial for lots of things. And one of those benefits is helping with dementia and memory. So you can try taking turmeric along with doing one of the essential oils I already mentioned. You would want to take it twice daily just like the essential oils that you can try.
The oil company that I use has a wonderful turmeric supplement that is good quality. But you do not need to use mine. Just make sure the turmeric supplement is good quality.

Oil Blend To Clear Your Mind
A lot of times with dementia, you have some brain fog. So here is a blend that will help you clear that fog and keep you alert. Use these three oils, rosemary, lemon and peppermint. Do about 25 drops each of rosemary and lemon and about 10 drops of peppermint. Put the oils in a 10ml roller ball bottle and fill the rest with coconut oil.
Then you can apply the roller ball bottle of oils to the back of the neck whenever you are feeling a little foggy. The nice thing about this oil blend is that you can just use as needed when you need a little extra alertness. While the other essential oils for dementia will need to applied and put under the tongue every day. Like I said, I just want to give you lots of options to
