Picture with me, you are exhausted and all you want to do is lay down and go to sleep. You finally get the kiddos in bed and you have to go to work tomorrow. So you get into your comfy pajamas, wash your wash, and brush your teeth. And get into your comfortable bed. This is what you have been waiting for all day.
And then, your legs start jumping. They will not calm down. Your legs are so restless, even though you are exhausted your legs just will not stop moving. If this is you, you have come to the right place. Because I am going to tell you all the essential oils for restless legs so you can get a good night’s sleep.
First Essential Oil is Cypress
Seriously, so no one knows about using cypress as one the essential oils for restless legs. They think of other oils, which I will get to, but this one never comes to mind. And it is my most favorite one to use for restless legs. So we are talking about it first.
So the way cypress oil works is it increases the circulation in the body. And when the circulation is increased in your legs, then it calms the legs down. And this is not something that a lot of people know. So I want to make sure I tell you guys.
Two ways you can use it. You can either just put a couple drops in your hands and then rub on your legs. Or you can put your cypress essential oil in a roller ball bottle and then dilute with coconut oil. Then you can roll on your legs as much as you want. This is how I use it. And this is the coconut oil that I use!
Massage Blend is Awesome Also
Basically restless legs can be caused when you are just so exhausted and your muscles are all tightened up. So the massage blend helps a ton for those tired and tight legs. Just put a couple drops of massage blend oil into your hand and then massage over your legs. This will help those legs relax so you can sleep.
Soothing Blend
If you know about essential oils, you might know that soothing blend is awesome for sore muscles. And if you do not know about oils, soothing blend is great for those sore muscles AND for restless legs. Because when your legs are restless, the muscles get super sore. So soothing blend is the way to go sometimes. You can either use the essential oil, the oil in a roller ball bottle. Or you can use in the cream form. The cream you can just massage into your restless legs like a lotion.
Soothing blend can be helpful for lots of tense muscles, including head tension. Go to this post to learn all about what oils to use for headaches.
Try Lavender Essential Oil
So lavender is used for so many things, and is just an all around great essential oil. If you want to see more uses for lavender, go to this post. But right now we are talking about restless legs. And lavender is one of the essential oils for restless legs.
This is because lavender is all about relaxing. And you will want to relax those restless legs. I just put a couple drops of lavender directly onto my legs and rub it in. You can also put in a roller ball bottle, but you definitely do not have to.
Marjoram Essential Oil
This is also an oil you might not think of when it comes to calming those restless legs so you can get some sleep. But it seriously helps so much. It is very soothing when you put it on. It is soothing to things like the lungs when they are working too hard (such as you have bronchitis). And it is soothing to the legs when they are restless. Just an essential oil you might not think to grab for when you can not sleep because those legs are moving.
Maybe Try Copaiba Essential Oil
So if none of the already mentioned essential oils do not work. Try cobaiba oil for restless legs. Copaiba is used a lot for pain. And sometimes restless legs are caused by pain in the legs or the body. So definitely try out the copaiba. Either you can put directly on your legs. Or you can put on the bottoms of your feet. Your feet have the biggest pores, so the essential oil will get to the rest of your body, including your legs, pretty quick.
Why Not Make A Blend
You know what the cool thing is about these oils? You can use them separately and many times they will work. But think about if you put them all together! They could work better for you than they do separately. I have been using cypress for quite awhile for my restless legs. But I discovered that putting cypress, massage blend and lavender together. And that blend worked even better.
So do not be afraid to experiment. Make a blend with some of these oils. Or put cypress on your legs and put copaiba on the bottoms of your feet. Or even put soothing blend on your legs and then diffuse the lavender. So you get your body relaxed so you can sleep. Since this is the end game. To get your restless legs to calm down and so you can get some sleep.

Lots of times pregnant women can get restless legs. Well, really restless everything, especially towards the end. But if you are pregnant, do not be afraid to try these essential oils for restless legs. As long as they are good quality oils, they are perfectly safe to try during pregnancy. I wish I had essential oils back when I was pregnant with my boys.
