As you all know, I am not a stay at home mom. I have the upmost respect for stay at home mamas. And many times I wish I was one. When my boys have activities that I have to miss because I am working. Or my son has to be picked up from something and I have to find someone to do this. Carpool can be wonderful things, but more on that later.
Sometimes my boys forget that I am not a stay at home, make all the things, kind of mom. I need to gently remind them that I am working so they can do all their activities, and live in their house. I have to give myself grace.
Making juice boxes into ghosts
Before the school year began, I signed up to bring juice boxes for my younger son’s Halloween party. This seemed nice and easy for me. I just go to the store, and buy some juice boxes. No making anything. Well, my son got this great idea to make the juice boxes into ghosts. We should put little white fabric on them, and cut out little eyes. Yeah, that is not happening buddy.
I appreciate that there are moms out there that would do this for their kids. That would love to do this project with their kids. I have a cousin that does these types of projects with her kids. I am so proud of her for doing these things. But I am not that mom. I am not a stay at home mom. I had to tell my son that we would be sending regular juice boxes, not decorated. And his friends would love them.
Washing my son’s jersey
So my older son had a cross country meet that I had to miss because I was working at the pharmacy. When we all got home that night, my son asked if i could wash his jersey so he could take it back to school in the morning. Um no, I am not that mom who washes something at nine at night so that it can be all washed and dried in the morning. I do not have time for that.
I know that there are moms out there that would have done it. And I commend you mamas, but I will not be doing that after working 12 hours at the pharmacy. I told him that I would wash the jersey over the weekend, and he could take it back to school on Monday.
All types of moms
There are all types of mom out there. And none of them are wrong. We all love our kids, and we are all doing our best. And I think that is all that matters. If you are the mom that would have decorated the juice boxes and washed the jersey, then good for you. If you are the mom, like me, that said “Heck no” that will not be happening. Good for you also.
We are all mamas raising our kids to happy and healthy. We should not judge each other, but take care of each other.
