Have you ever gone to the doctor for your check up and she says your cholesterol is a little high? And what does the doctor recommend, just like with high blood pressure (go to my post on blood pressure to see what to do to help naturally lower it), get on a good diet and exercise. Then eventually your cholesterol will get high enough that the doctor will want to put you on medication to bring it down. And you add on another pill that you have to take.
But along with diet and exercise, there are also natural supplements to lower cholesterol. So keep reading because I have lots of essential oils and natural supplements up my sleeve to help you get those numbers lower.

A Basic Nutritional Supplement
This is so so important and is a must. You need to take a good quality multi-vitamin. My oil company has a really good multiple vitamin, so go to my website if you want to get the vitamins. But if you don’t want to go with my company (which is totally fine), go to my blog post about what to look for in a multi-vitamin.
Along with the multi-vitamin you need to also take an omega complex. These are fatty acid complex, and those fatty acids actually help lower cholesterol. Fish oil would be a source of omega acid, in case you were curious. I get that question a lot at the pharmacy. And this is one of the great natural supplements to lower cholesterol.

Lemongrass Essential Oil
Lemongrass essential oil is THE oil for lowering cholesterol. How you would use it is to put 5-7 drops in an empty capsule and take that once a day. Now, unfortunately, you can not put the essential oil in the capsule in advance, so you will have to do this everyday, but it is pretty simple. Here are some empty capsules I recommend.
If you do not feel comfortable taking the oils internally (though the oils from my oil company are safe!). Then you can put on the bottom of your feet. Either just put the lemongrass directly on the arch of your feet. Or you can put the lemongrass in a roller ball bottle and and dilute with coconut oil, about half of lemongrass oil and half coconut oil. And use daily whichever way you put on your feet.
Cholesterol Lowering Oil Blend
If you try just the lemongrass by itself and find it not bringing your numbers down, or if you want to hit that cholesterol with more oils. Then you should try this blend. It is still the lemongrass but you add cassia and lavender. So put 3 drops of lemongrass and 2 drops each of cassia and lavender into an empty capsule and take that daily.
Again, if you do not want to ingest the oils. You can put on the bottom of your feet. Just apply it daily, either drops onto the arch of your feet, or put in a roller ball bottle and dilute with coconut oil. Here are some rollerball bottles and coconut oil you can try!
Another Blend To Try
Lowering cholesterol with oils and/or natural supplements is just like lowering blood pressure (go check out my blog post on what essential oils to use for blood pressure), it is a little bit of trial and error. So an oil blend that works for one women, might not work for someone else. That is why I want to give you some different options.
So another blend that you could try is 2 drops each of frankincense, lemongrass and marjoram. Put in an empty capsule and take twice daily. And as always, if you do not want to ingest, go ahead and put on the bottoms of your feet.

Turmeric Supplement
Turmeric supplement is a natural supplement that has studies showing that this can lower cholesterol. My oil company has a great turmeric supplement that I use. But if you do not want to use that one. Make sure that you get a good quality turmeric supplement. Try taking the turmeric twice daily for three months and see if it lowers your cholesterol numbers.
Add On A Probiotic
There are studies that show more than half of your body’s health is in the gut. So if you have a healthy gut then the rest of your body is healthy. Including having your cholesterol be at a healthy level. So take a good quality probiotic everyday. It could help bring your cholesterol numbers down. And will also help with other things such as healthy immune support.

These are some great options for you to try if you find out in a doctor visit that your cholesterol is not where you want it to be. And remember you might have to try a few different oil blends or supplements to find the right one to lower your cholesterol.
