So I know that lots of people, especially women, have problems with being a healthy weight. A lot of the issues that make this so hard are those sugar cravings. They make losing any weight difficult because all you want to do is eat cookies and candy and donuts (donuts are my favorite!). But what if I told you I have a solution to help reduce those sugar cravings!
There are legit essential oils that help reduce those sugar cravings. You might be a little disbelieving of this, but what if it is indeed true. Plus, pure and high quality essential oils are safe to use, so what do you have to lose?
Sugar and the Immune System
Before I get into what essential oils to use to reduce sugar cravings, I want to talk about the immune system and sugar in the body. Did you know that sugar suppresses the immune system for twelve hours? I was blown away by that. So if I have something with sugar in it in the morning, the whole shift I am at the pharmacy working, my immune system is suppressed.
Of course, it is difficult to go cold turkey on all sugar ever. Especially since there is sneaky sugar (the sugar you don’t notice) in lots of food we eat. So you can not get rid of all the sugar. But if you want to reduce some of the sugar, a little bit at a time, essential oils can help you.
First Oil Is Metabolic Blend
This essential oil is the bomb! It is called metabolic blend because it was specifically created for curbing the metabolism or reducing those sugar cravings. I love that there is an oil that was made to help us with these sugar cravings and indirectly help with losing weight.
This oil can be used in lots of different ways. You can put two drops of this oil in water before meals. This is two birds with one stone because you get the oil that will hopefully stop the sugar cravings. Plus, you drink water which can also help you lose weight. I use this glass water bottle for my water with essential oils in it.
I am not a big fan of the taste of metabolic blend so I take the softgels. Which is just the oil in a little capsule thing that you can take and not taste the oil. If you do not want to take the essential oil internally, you can always put the metabolic blend oil on your belly. Either just by itself. Or you can dilute it with coconut oil and put in a roller ball bottle!
Along with the oil and the softgels, there is also gum. I love to have the gum with me so when I get hungry, or crave some sugar. When I feel like I want to eat a cookie or some candy, instead I pop a piece of gum. It totally stops my sugar cravings.
Fennel Essential Oil
This is an oil you might not think of! But fennel oil can really reduce those sugar cravings. I don’t think I would take this one internally. I would just rub on your belly multiple times a day to help you not reach for that donut. It is hard to reduce that sugar craving, especially if you are eating sugar every single day. It is almost a sugar addiction that you want to overcome. So why not get a little bit of help from fennel essential oil.
Dill Essential Oil to Reduce Sugar Cravings
Dill essential oil is another one I would not put in some water and drink. I am not even sure I would put on your belly. Who wants to smell like dill? There are a couple of options you could do to use dill to stop those sugar cravings. You could put it in a recipe, so instead of putting in the spice dill. Put in the essential oil dill. But remember that if you get your dill oil from a high quality company, then it is going to be potent. So just one drop of dill essential oil in a recipe is probably enough.
Another option is you could put one to two drops of dill essential oil into an empty capsule. That way you do not have to taste the oil. Much better way to do it.
Grapefruit Essential Oil
I love some grapefruit oil for a few reasons. First, it is really uplifting and just makes you feel better. Go to this post to see about eight uplifting oils including grapefruit. And it also helps reduce sugar cravings. So it is just an awesome essential oil. There are a few ways you can use grapefruit oil. It is great in a diffuser or putting on the inside of your wrist so you can smell it. If you do not have a diffuser yet, this is one that I love.
You can also put a couple drops in your water multiple times a day. It tastes really good. Now make sure that you know that I keep saying multiple times a day. None of these essential oils are a magical pill that you just take once a day and you stop sugar cravings the whole day. This is a multiple times a day thing because you have sugar cravings multiple times a day.
How Long to Stop Craving Sugar?
This is a hard question to answer because I am not sure if sugar cravings completely go away. But I have experienced this myself. Because I did not feel that sugar was doing me any favors. I think it messed with my emotional state, such as making me feel more anxious and depressed. So I cut most sugar out of my diet. It was brutal for about a week. Maybe it would be different for other people. But after a week the sugar cravings were greatly reduced.
If you are serious about stop eating sugar, than it will be a rough week, but then it will get better. And it will be easier for you if you use the essential oils I mentioned in this post.
