As we get older, especially for us women who have had babies, a problem that might develop is some urinary incontinence. If this happens to you, then you have the embarrassing conversation with your doctor about what medication you can use to help your incontinence. And you find out that all of the medications for this are very expensive and have side effects.

Just in case you are wondering urinary incontinence is when you have loss of bladder control. So when you laugh, sneeze or cough and you pee yourself a little. And as we get older this problem usually gets worse. But I am going to tell you all about the natural remedies for incontinence. That are fairly inexpensive (especially compared to the medications that are out there), and have no side effects. Plus they do actually help.

Cypress Essential Oil
I’ll start with the essential oil to try for natural remedies for incontinence. Because oils are always my go to for any problem. Cypress oil is amazing for so many things (I just wrote a blog post about varicose veins and a recipe to help get rid of them, go check it out!). And cypress essential oil is actually the number one oil to use for urinary incontincence.
What you want to do is apply two to three drops of cypress over your bladder twice daily. Your bladder is basically your lower belly. So just put the drops of oil in your hand and rub over your lower belly. If you would rather make a roller ball bottle, you can put about 30 drops of cypress in a 10ml rollerball bottle and fill the rest with coconut oil. Then you can roll on your lower belly twice daily. Here are some roller ball bottles and coconut oil I recommend.
Kegal Exercises
Something else you could try, along with using the cypress oil, is kegal exercises. This will help strengthen your pelvic floor muscles that between your tail bone and your pubic bone. And they support the bowel and bladder (as well as the uterus and vagina in women). So if you strengthen these muscles then you have more control over the bladder.
The mayo clinic has a great guide on kegal exercises that you could try. Go check out the website here.

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy
Along the same lines of kegal exericises, if your urinary incontinence is really bad. Then pelvic floor physical therapy might be something you could try. Here is an article that tells you all about what pelvic floor physical therapy is.
But this is last resort. So definitely look into using cypress essential oil and doing kegal exercises for natural remedies for incontinence before jumping to the physical therapy.
